The problems of extremism and civil society in the North Caucasus federal district: youth's opinions

The article reviews the results of sociological survey involving the youth of the Northern Caucasus region. The author focuses on the attitude of young people to the problems of extremism, as well as participation in public and political life of the region depending on the chosen model of civic behaviour (active, engagement-based, absenteeism). It is concluded that young people are highly concerned about the problems of extremism under circumstances of occasional manifestations of nationalist sentiment in their group. The author emphasizes a fairly high involvement of absentees and activists in political and public life.
