The article discusses the need to implement the monitoring of socio-economic development of a region in the framework of strategic management. The impact of legislation amendments on such monitoring is considered. The author deals with the main problems of the existing system of monitoring of the regional socio-economic development. The areas for enhancement of the strategic monitoring efficiency are suggested.
