Problems of providing the geometrical correctness of computer CAD models using NX tools

A problem of topological incorrectness elicitation in the CAD models, the methods and tools to their removal for further conversion of model geometry into finite-element modeling CAE systems, have been considered. The task of editing and reconstruction the nonlinear surface, which should be used as “theory” at the design of complex shell-like thin-walled parts, is solved in the NX CAE environment. We present the abilities of this CAE system to analysis the quality of the surface segments linking, and also to quantitatively estimate the error of rebuilt geometry. An efficiency of considered approach is illustrated by comparison of finite-element meshing before and after implemented editing of the original CAD model.
