The article deals with the problems of choice and justification of marketing tools under the influence of a number of factors in the banking market. The competitiveness of the banking sector is analyzed. There are also political reasons that hinder the competitiveness of the banking sector in Russia. It is concluded that there are several main factors hindering the development of competitiveness of commercial banks in the Russian financial market.
