Issues in Defining Political Forecasting Technology

The article delves into the challenges associated with defining the technology of political forecasting. It serves as an essential and necessary tool for public actors in achieving the goals of sustainable development across intergovernmental unions, nations, federal subjects, municipalities, political parties, and their leaders. The study of the inherent essence and key characteristics of political forecasting technology is particularly relevant in the modern academic landscape. The article provides a review of scholarly publications, presenting arguments for the differentiation of the following concepts: “foresight”, “forecast”, “political forecast” and “political forecasting”. It identifies the difficulties inherent in defining these terms. A classification of various scientific approaches to the differentiation of the terms “political forecast” and “political forecasting” is proposed. Furthermore, the article analyzes the essential features, objectives, subjects, and functions of political forecasting technology. It underscores the relevance of its application in achieving specific goals by various political actors.
