The difficulties of teaching technical disciplines during an unplanned transition to a distance learning format are considered. The directions and results of a study devoted to identifying the reasons for the low academic performance of students are presented on the example of the analysis of mastering the content of the discipline «Management of operational work». The directions of methodical and work of teachers, focused on the optimization of the educational process in the context of distance learning, are proposed.
