The article deals with the problems of transition to inflation targeting in Russia. Analyzed the characteristics of inflation, the conditions of inflation targeting and the dynamics of inflation in Russia from 2008 to 2018, the comparative inflation data from economically developed countries such as UK, USA, China, EU. Mandatory requirements that form the basis of the inflation targeting regime and obstacles to its implementation in the Russian Federation are highlighted.
