Problems of translating specisalized texts (for pharmaceutical sphere)

The article illustrates the main problems of translation in the field of pharmaceutics, determines the causes of these problems. The pharmaceutical text is narrowly focused, because, together with medical terms, it contains the terminology of a pharmaceutical nature, which is a collection of complex lexical systems. A translator often deals with complex concepts. The central place in this list belongs to the nomenclature of drugs, as a vast collection of drug names that are officially allowed for use in a particular country. A special place is occupied by the translation of manuals, regulations, monographs of pharmacopoeias, etc. Ignorance of the basic elements of the terminological system and the features of its functioning can lead to errors in the construction, translation and understanding of special texts. In studying the difficulties of translation associated with the use of special terms, three main groups of difficulties have been identified. Examples of the identified difficulties associated with the parallel use of several terms in the Russian language to denote the same special concept are considered, as well as examples illustrating the absence in the Russian language of a terminological unit denoting one or another special concept; cases of use in the Russian language of an incorrect translation of the English term for designating a particular special concept...
