The paper shows the severity of the crime problem in the auto insurance market in Russia. Showing the forms of crime on the part of employees of insurance companies and customers. Considered the legal regulation of crime in this market. There are suggestions for improving the legal institute of auto insurance in Russia. In particular, it is necessary to retrain the responsibility for forging documents in the field of auto insurance in fraudulent activities; to strengthen the interaction of the insurance companies at the stage of pre-trial settlement of disputes with each other; to resort to forensic expertise in the event of contradictions at the stage of pre-trial settlement and other measures.
