Problems of applying technical means in preventing unauthorized use of communication devices by persons keeped in institutions of the penitentiary system

This article discusses the problems of using technical means in suppressing the unauthorized use of means of communication by persons held in institutions of the penitentiary system. The advantages and disadvantages of using various means of inspection and other equipment for detecting communication devices, as well as means of blocking the radio channels used by them, are compared. Each of the directions proposed for implementation has its own advantages and limitations, technical, financial and legislative problems that arise in the course of their practical application. To a large extent, the approaches considered in the article can also be applied to provide additional measures for the technical protection of official information from threats associated with the unauthorized use of modern communication devices by employees in the course of their activities. Comprehensive solutions are proposed that make it possible to more fully implement the restrictions on the use of communication facilities by the persons contained in them, provided for by the internal regulations of the institutions of the penitentiary system of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation. The implementation of the measures considered in the article will significantly improve the quality of prevention of a number of crimes committed using modern means of communication by persons held in the institutions of the penitentiary system.
