The problems of designing network multimedia and information resources (NMIR) on the example of Internet resources of a number of subjects of the Russian Federation are considered. It is argued that NMIR not only provide intercultural communication in the virtual space of the Internet, but also act as a factor of directed social and cultural transformations in the real social space, as well as have a positive and negative impact on communicants as subjects of real multicultural relations. The most effective channel and tool for network communications are network multimedia and information resources due to their features, such as interactivity and emotional and aesthetic saturation, which provide opportunities for maximum implementation of communication potential in the network environment, including direct social and cultural orientation, it is shown. That SMIR, which reflect the planned, targeted and coordinated activities of public organizations and movements in different regions, aimed at maintaining and promoting the idea and value of interethnic peace and harmony can have a positive impact on the consolidation of all positive forces in society.
