The article is devoted to problems of development of agricultural insurance in Russia. The role of insurance in ensuring food security of Russia. In this paper, the strategic goal of food security, which is providing the population with safe agricultural products. Studied and analyzed the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation in the sphere of food security, as well as considered the main reason for the slow development of voluntary insurance.
