The article is devoted to the topical aspects of the regulation of geographical indication and brand name. There are a number of features that are inherent only in the brand name and geographical indication. Geographical indications have appeared relatively recently in Russia and are just beginning to become a popular means of individualization. Due to the fact that the civil legislation of the Russian Federation regulating geographical indication has just appeared, and the issues of the correlation of geographical indication with other means of individualization have not been properly regulated. It seems that in the near future it is necessary to continue active regulatory and practical work towards improving the mechanism of legal regulation of geographical indication.
