The article analyzes the factors that determine the process of inclusion of young people in the activities of public organizations in contemporary Russian society. The influence of society's attitude to such associations is quite contradictory - along with the recognition of their positive role and importance for society, there is also distrust in connection with the discrepancy of their activities to the stated goals and expectations of people, as well as a low focus on participation in initiative groups. As a whole, the general social background cannot be called favorable for the inclusion of the population in the activities of public associations. Features of the youth group, due to the specifics of social status and experience, contribute to a higher activity of its representatives: the objective need for self-realization, the expansion of social experience focused on the inclusion in various forms of social activity. At the same time, there is a reorientation of young people's interests from political to other types of socio-cultural activity. At the present stage, one of the problems of the development of volunteerism among young people is the search for a balance of altruistic and instrumental, career motives, the formation of civic consciousness and social responsibility. In addition, the youth movement needs organizational and financial support. In conclusion, the contradictions that complicate the inclusion of Russian youth in public organizations are highlighted.
