Problems of internal Islamic dialogue in Daghestan

The abolishment of religious values and their storage in closed subcultures has led to the rapid growth of “revival” (legalization) of Islam in Daghestan where both two forms of Islam are practiced as the “traditional” one is concerned with the local spiritual substance and the imported one from Saudi Arabia (salafism/wahhabism /jihadism) as well. The character of opposition between salafism and traditional Islam, salafism and the ruling regime clarifies itself not so much ethnic factors as social, political, ideological and religious ones.
