A review of the literature on the problem of thyroid gland under rheumatological diseases is given. Patients with rheumatological diseases are subjected to increased incidence of autoimmune thyroid disease, due to common immunological mechanisms of these diseases. This implies the need for screening assessment of thyroid function in patients with rheumatological diseases.
