The article considers the option of preparing fodder groats for young animals and poultry with the separation of particles of the destroyed grain shell, which is poorly digested by them and often causes damage to their gastrointestinal tract, and often death. It has been proposed that peeling of fodder grain (barley, corn, oats and seeds of other agricultural crops with a hard shell) should be carried out together with the operation of grinding into cereals in crushers with a rotor with a vertical axis of rotation. A schematic representation of the working zone of such a crusher is given with the location of the air-vortex and product-air layers in it, as well as calculated dependences for determining the circumferential flow rate in it and the radius of division of the zones. The issues of placing hammers on the rotor of a crusher with onesided loading of feed grain for crushing and peeling are considered, dependencies are obtained that determine the duration of grain processing with hammers of each row of the rotor and its cycle in crushing with removal of the shell. A close relationship has been established between the parameters of grain input into the crusher with its peeling and the design of its rotor. Attention is drawn to the drawbacks of the process of removing particles of the husk destroyed by the shock effect and the dustlike part of the product from under the crusher rotor, since this is accompanied not only by an increase in the loss of feed grains, but also by a significant content of sharp particles of husk in the finished product, which is undesirable for young animals. The expediency of distributing the feeding of feed grain into the crushing chamber and further improving the process of obtaining cereals with simultaneous separation of the husk is shown.
