Introduction: In the article examines the indictment as the final act of the preliminary investigation, discusses the current problems of criminal procedure related to the preparation of this important document at the final stage of pre-trial criminal proceedings. The study of various aspects of the procedural value of the indictment, demonstrates their relationship with ensuring the adversarial and equal rights of the parties in criminal proceedings, access to justice and the protection of their rights and legitimate interests of participants in criminal proceedings. Materials and methods: the basis of the study is the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation, the Decisions of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, the Decisions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, scientific research in the field of criminal proceedings on the issues being studied. The methodological basis of the study was the general dialectical method of scientific knowledge, which is universal in nature, as well as methods of logical deduction, induction, cognitive, statistical methods, methods of comparison, analysis, generalization and description...
