The processes of regionalization in East Asia in 2000-2010-s

The concentration of political and economic capital in East Asia contributes to the emergence of works on regionalization processes taking place in this region and maintains interest in its further intellectual reflection. In most works, only certain aspects (economic, political, social, and cultural) of regionalization are considered. The author substantiates the need to trace the dynamics of the development of regionalism in East Asia as a whole in 2000-2010-s, when there is a transition to new trends in international relations, namely the fragmentation of the international space and increased competition between the leading players for power over East Asia. The study is based on a variety of material, including historical sources by foreign and domestic authors, regulatory documents, and publicistic works. A chronological approach and a comparative methodology were used, which made it possible to characterize the processes of regionalization in chronological order and determine the strengths and weaknesses of existing regional organizations representing the interests of various political forces. As a result of the analysis, it was concluded that three political forces are represented in East Asia - the United States, ASEAN, China, and each of the represented participants sees the further development of the region in its own way.
