Food security of the population of the region (based on the materials of the Republic of Buryatia)

Providing the population with food is one of the main tasks assigned to the modern state. Food security of the population is the most discussed problem today. The strengthening of geopolitical tensions, social and economic instability stimulate the processes of developing Russia's domestic food potential. Regions play a special role in this process. The article presents key indicators that allow determining the level of food security of the population in the Republic of Buryatia. The authors analyzed the dynamics of the parameters of the development of the agricultural sector of the region. It has been revealed that for some types of agricultural products at the regional level there are all prerequisites to independently provide the population with food. At the same time, it is necessary to direct efforts in the development of the agricultural sector of the region to increase the rate of production by local producers in order to achieve higher indicators of food security in the republic.
