Despite the progress achieved in socioeconomic development, the problem of food security and its physical and economic accessibility remains quite acute in the 19th century. Furthermore, a relatively high level of differentiation in food consumption is observed. This acts as a constraint on socioeconomic development, leading to a decrease in its sustainability, as it also causes environmental problems. One of the reasons for the exacerbation of food security problems is the unevenness of food consumption, particularly its overconsumption in certain social groups and regions (countries). This article examines this problem and draws conclusions about the need for institutional restructuring aimed at rationalizing consumption; directions for such institutional changes are outlined.
