Resilience, stable national food system is the basis of food security of the country. In the conditions of globalization interdependence of national food systems steadily increases, and the level of food security in many respects depends on the place of the country in the world food market. In the article the comparative analysis of development of food system of Russia and the leading countries of the world is carried out. The conclusion is drawn that the food system of Russia, having huge resource potential, is characterized by rather low level of efficiency and competitiveness.
