Food supply in the aspect of spatial development of the region (exemplified by the Republic of Buryatia)

Food supply is one of the most important factors of sustainable development of the region. The article analyzes the spatial distribution of food resources, production potential of local food producers, food supply of the population. It also analyzes the volume of exports and imports of food products. When assessing the country's food security as a criterion of food independence in the world practice is used the level of imported food supplies in the amount of 30% of the total volume of its consumption in the country, because, other things being equal, exceeding this level generates strategic dependence of the state on other countries. The spatial distribution of food resources in the geographical context in the Republic of Buryatia has an uneven character and is considered in the article.
