The profession of a diplomat in the views of the actors of the modern information society: mythologization and reality

The relevance of the study is that in the modern realities of international tension and the objective strengthening of the role of diplomacy in the settlement of possible conflicts, there is a growing need for professional personnel trained taking into account the tasks currently being solved and for the future. The article presents some results of a comparative analysis of ideas about the profession of a diplomat, presented on the websites of recruitment agencies, career guidance centers, higher educational institutions, as well as the opinions of users of Internet sites, career diplomats, authors of the research on peculiarities of the formation of a professional group of diplomatic workers. The main information blocks are highlighted. The criteria for the analysis of Internet sources were the following: completeness of data on the profession and their adequacy, semantic load; linguistic features of texts, consistency of the information provided; benefits for the audience targeted by the activity of websites; systematization of the spectrum of opinions on the research problem. The original online study which was characterized by the novelty of approaches to assessing the real professional status of diplomats revealed a number of controversial and contradictory ideas about the profession that have developed in society. A model image of a diplomat was formed, the directions of mythologization of the profession were identified and their critical analysis was carried out.
