The profession of the people's teacher in the system of organizational activity of the educational entrepreneurs (on the materials of Smolensk province)

This article is devoted to the reform era in the history of Russian education in the second half of the XIX century. The article reveals the problems of public education and the peculiarity of the activity of patrons of the Smolensk province on the example of the work of the landowner A.N. Popov, who contributed to the development of the network of public schools. Particular attention is paid to his views on the personality of the national teacher and the activities organized to optimize the quality of this profession.
