The coronavirus pandemic has made significant changes in the global community, affecting both people's daily and professional lives. Particular features of the life and work of professional athletes in 2020 are discussed in this paper (during the quarantine and post-quarantine periods). The respondents (members of the Krasnodar Krai and Russian national teams) noted changes in training loads, the format of classes and the competition arrangements; the introduction of various restrictions; and a reduction in domestic and professional contacts. At the same time, when restrictions were lifted, some respondents became more motivated and willing to train and win. Overall, the pandemic was not just a new experience for many professional athletes, but a real test of endurance in the hope of new victories and world records.
