The professional activity of a modern teacher is associated with the risk of the formation of emotional burnout. Self-management can become a tool for increasing the level of adaptation. The interconnection between the level of mastering the rules of self-management and the degree of formation of the syndrome of emotional burnout of teachers of the Volgograd State Medical University of the Ministry of Health of Russia was revealed. The maximum number of respondents with different stages of burnout is noted in the group with a low level of self-management. In the study, we also identified which categories of teachers can be primarily recommended for teaching self-management skills. The program "Self-management of a teacher of a medical university" developed by us should help to improve the adaptation of teachers of higher education in modern conditions.
