This article provides a comprehensive examination of a professionally oriented approach to teaching foreign languages to students of non-linguistic specialties in higher education institutions. This approach takes into account the specific language learning needs of students, which are closely related to their future professional activities, and focuses on developing effective communication skills in professional contexts. The critical importance of adhering to general didactic and linguodidactic principles in teaching foreign languages in non-linguistic programs is emphasized, paralleling the practices employed in linguistic universities. Special attention is given to the implementation of the principles of consciousness and activity in the teaching process, along with a discussion of methods and strategies that enhance motivation and independence among students at non-linguistic faculties.
