Professional music education in the context of transformation processes of the region

The article reviews the current state of the professional music education in the Republic of Dagestan and it identifies the factors that caused the negative dynamics of music education at the secondary vocational training. Changes in the social and cultural sphere of the region, domination of Islamic priorities in a value system determined the attitude of the religious Dagestanis to the musical art as a forbidden one in the context of religious traditions. In these circumstances, activities of the cultural and educational institutions capable of keeping secular space and creating the up-to-date cultural environment are important. The strategy of regional cultural policy as one of the instruments of preserving integrity of music education takes into account the efficiency of the art and cultural projects promoting the academic music.
