Professional status of social workers in Russia in the context of promoting of social changes

The article deals with the professional status of social workers in the context of promoting of social changes. In contemporary Russia the social workers as mediators between the state and clients face the dilemma of taking care of the clients and social control. Also, they appear to be vulnerable specialists with low social status. Basing upon the results of the mass survey of social workers, the author presents an analysis of the subjective perception of the professional status, the need and possible mechanisms of its increase.
