Prevention of complications of the cardiovascular system in patients with COVID-19

In severe cases of coronavirus infection, when intensive care and mechanical ventilation were required, chronic diseases were detected in 75% of children. Congenital heart defects and cardiomyopathy were observed in 21% of children, obesity in 15%, neurological diseases (10%), asthma (10%) and hypertension (2%). Obesity (42%) and asthma (29%) were identified in the majority of COVID-19 deaths in children. Although children with underlying health conditions have increased risks, cardiovascular complications, severe COVID-19 disease, and death are rare.
