Prevention of complications of tuberculous spondylitis in the elderly

Tuberculosis and nonspecific osteomyelitis of the spine currently remain among the most severe crippling orthopedic diseases with a high percentage of disability (up to 85%). Patients suffering from tuberculous spondylitis make up from 53.7% to 80.7% among people with bone and joint tuberculosis. Patients with newly diagnosed tuberculosis of the spine in 70% of cases join the ranks of disabled people of group I and II. Nonspecific osteomyelitis of the spine accounts for 1.54.2% of all cases of osteomyelitis, and it is the most difficult to diagnose and difficult to localize this purulent process.
