Prevention of suicidal risk in people under state protection

To examine professional knowledge, skills and profiles of prevention of suicidal risks in persons under state protection and correct the syllabus a poll was conducted among police officers who guard the people under state protection. The study revealed that a large number of the respondents among advance and further education trainees at the Ufa Law Institute of the Russian MIA are not aware of diagnostic methods, tasks and means used to prevent suicidal risks, their level of knowledge in the field is low. The developed training programme of prevention of suicide intentions ensures a higher level of awareness and formation of officers’ skills in suicide prevention, intervention and post-suicidal assistance. The author presents the prior activities of police officers for primary, secondary and tertiary prevention of suicides among people under state protection.
