The specialization process of higher education of the USSR in the 1930s (based on the materials of the Lower Volga region)

The article analyzes the process of reforming the higher education system in the USSR in the 1930s based on the archival sources and scientific literature. There is paid special attention to the analysis of the process of transferring higher education institutions to departmental subordination. The article demonstrates the correspondence between the profiles of the new institutions in the Lower Volga region and the economic specialization of the region.
