The article provides a medium-term forecast of the future of trade unions in Russia, taking into account current political and socio-economic trends. The authors conclude that in the near future, associations of employees of the traditional type will not lose their privileged position in the social partnership system. They will remain committed to the value-ideological position of the President of the Russian Federation and his nationally oriented course towards ensuring sovereignty. Eventually, the tendency to centralize the system of public power is extrapolated to trade unions, forcing them to increase the level of internal executive discipline and hierarchical orderliness. The coverage of employees by trade union membership will increase with the gradual nationalization of industrial enterprises; however, the problem of low motivation of trade union membership will not lose its relevance even in the context of the expansion of the public sector of the economy.
