In conditions of low and negative interest rates, central banks adjust their monetary policy, including non-standard measures to overcome economic instability, stimulate business activity and economic recovery. Programs for the purchase of financial assets, called quantitative easing, have become widespread in international practice. The article examines the reasons for the use of quantitative easing, analyzes the tools and features of the implementation of purchase programs in the United States, the European Union and Japan.
