Nowadays, there is a great need for understanding the nature of the contradictory social phenomena and processes in modern Russia. Moreover, it is necessary to improve the social behavior management in various communities and social groups that are actively involved in these events. Volunteering is one of such widespread and dynamic social processes. The sociological approach allows one to consider volunteering as a reflection of the value- and role-based structure of the personality in any social groups and identify the motivation for the engagement of modern Russian youth in the volunteer movement. The study reveals two main goals of the volunteer movement (social stability and cohesion development, delivery of services that are to be provided by various social programs at the different levels of government but are not sufficiently available). The research focuses on modern volunteering in the context of emergencies.
