The article analyzes the legal status of a prosecutor in the pre-trial criminal proceedings in the context of the introduced amendments in the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation. On the basis of the arguments the author notes the need for restitution of the prosecutor’s powers during the preliminary investigation.
