The article describes the anatomical and topographical features of the intermediate nerve in the domestic dog and ordinary fox. Intermediate nerve branches are a nervus petrosus major and chorda tympani. These nerves connecting through the trigeminal nerve branches are involved in the innervation of the lacrimal gland, mandibular and sublingual salivary glands. Chorda tympani joining the lingual nerve (V pair) is a connecting branch from ganglion oticus (IX pair).
