Currently, industrial areas play a special role in the space of a modern city. According to a number of researchers, the development prospects of a particular urban locus will largely depend on the optimization of their condition. This study analyzes the first industrial district of Samara, Bezimyanka, focusing on its evaluation as a living space through the lens of anthropological proportionality. This indicator, being one of the significant elements of the cultural examination of complex systems, which include the city, allows us to identify the correspondence between it and the townspeople. The work highlights the objective and subjective aspects of anthropological proportionality. The objective aspect facilitates the diagnosis of Bezimyanka from the perspective of the environment as it exists for individuals, while the subjective aspect examines how it is perceived by residents. The empirical foundation of the research is based on a survey of Samara residents (sample population - 225 people). The analysis reveals both the potential of Bezimyanka as a residential area and the issues that diminish its attractiveness as a living space for its inhabitants.
