The appearance of musical instruments, as the simplest and more complex, the development of musical traditions are clearly a sign of the complex and behavioral strategies for modern human physical type and are associated with the context of a wide range of innovations in the culture at an early stage of the Upper Paleolithic. The article presents new and known materials from the excavation of Transbaikalian archaeological sites of the initial stage of Upper Paleolithic, which are studied in the general context of the formation and development of musical traditions in Eurasia. The authors propose to discuss the problems of interpretation of the simplest airofons well-diagnosed in European materials in keeping with the concept of musical activity as a form of sign behavior.
