This study focuses on the development and evaluation of a simple interline sunflower hybrid Aris IMI, resistant to imidazolinone (IMI) herbicides. The aim was to develop a highyielding hybrid with improved competitiveness against weeds, including the obligate parasite Orobanche cumana Wallr., through the use of herbicide cultivation technology, thereby reducing yield losses and increasing agroecosystem stability. The methodology included multiyear with the development of the parent lines VA760imi and VA737imi, as well as the evaluation of agronomic traits and weed control effectiveness under field conditions. The results showed that the Aris IMI hybrid exhibits high productivity while suppressing weed competition, effectively controlling problematic species, including O. cumana, regardless of the population’s race composition. The introduction of this hybrid into production systems involving the use of imidazolinone herbicides can significantly improve the economic efficiency and ecological sustainability of sunflower cultivation. This study highlights the importance of breeding approaches for herbicide resistance and opens up prospects for the further development of new nonGMO weed control strategies.
