The sunflower hybrid Arsenal was developed within a collaboration program between experimental stations of the All-Russia research institute of oil crops. It is equal to the best world samples by its seed and oil yields. It is resistant to the broomrape (races A-E) and a complex of races of downy mildew, tolerant to Phomopsis. A maternal line of the hybrid VA 760 A (CMS pet1) was developed at the Armavirskaya experimental station of VNIIMK. A paternal form - a line-restorer of pollen fertility VK 301 - is of VNIIMK’s breeding. Hybrid Arsenal is middle maturing, highly productive, stable, of intensive type. It is responsive to common cultivation technology, but it is able to prove good seed yield even under insignificant deterioration of cultivation conditions. The recommended plant population is 54-56 ths plant per ha, Potential yield is 4.30 t per ha. Due to data of competitive trials for 2013-2016, Arsenal exceeded domestic standard Kubansky 930 by seed yield on 0.46 t per ha, by oil yield on 0.19 t per ha, and wasn’t inferior by these traits to the foreign standard (Arena PR). The sunflower hybrid Arsenal possesses wide agroecological adaptability. Comparative results of the ecological trial of 2016 showed the average yield of the new hybrid was 3.70 t per ha, inconsiderable inferior to the best hybrid in the trial - NK Brio (Syngenta company). The yields of these hybrids were almost equal in the conditions of the Armavirskaya experimental station (Krasnodar region). The features of the hybrid Arsenal are: weak susceptibility to sowing dates, quick plant development at the first stages of growth, good environmental adaptability and stable productivity in the different soil and climatic conditions, middle resistance to drought and good - to high temperatures, middle stress resistance. The sunflower hybrid Arsenal is released from 2017 in the Northern Caucasus, Central Chernozem, Low Volga and Middle Volga regions.
