Spatial transformation of the settlement system of the periphery of the st. Petersburg agglomeration

A spatial analysis of the dynamics of the urban population and the transformation of the network of settlements in the period from 1991 to 2020 is carried out. in the peripheral areas of the St. Petersburg agglomeration. It was revealed that the greatest transformation of the settlement system is characteristic of the administrative districts of the Leningrad region, surrounding the core of the agglomeration of St. Petersburg - Vsevolozhsky, Lomonosovsky, Kirovsky, Gatchinsky and Tosnensky, which is associated with growing residential areas and interregional (external) migration growth.
