The article presents the processes in the field of formation and transformation of the educational function of the museum depending on the needs of the era in which it is considered. In modern conditions, the institutions of culture and education, such as a museum, face a difficult task: to find a balance between the rapidly changing world, reflection and transforming sociocultural values, their corrective translation, audience and dialogue, interactive forms of interaction with the public.
