The protest movement: in search of a new political subject

The material is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of the political protest as a contemporary form of the civic activism. The author underlines that is impossible to understand the essence of the political protest using just the social and the demographic characteristics of the activists. By his turn the author offers to use the communicative logic of interpretation of the protest activism. The communicative logic of the new forms of the civic activism seems to be optimal, because the core of the protest cluster is united by the new forms of the communication that is alternative to those that are replicated by the state system. The author analyses the actual sociological empirical data about the protest activity in Russia.
