Contradictions of individualized formation of professional competencies at the stage of studying at the university

The article raises the urgent problem of insufficiently effective transition of universities to the individualized development of students’ professional competencies. This is associated with the presence of certain problems and contradictions that require their study. The aim of the proposed study is to identify and group contradictions in the field of individualized formation of competencies at the stage of study at a university, as well as their assessment by representatives of Russian universities. As a result, a grouping of contradictions was proposed, which were confirmed by teachers and administrative and managerial personnel of universities. Three groups of contradictions have been identified. The first group of contradictions is associated with an inconsistent interpretation of the concept and structure of competencies, as well as the content of their formation at different stages of a person’s life and career. The second group of contradictions is associated with a mismatch of positions regarding the essence and content of the individualized formation of competencies. The third group of contradictions is associated with the discrepancy between the declared policy of individualization and the practice of individualized formation of competencies at the stage of study at a university. Those who accepted 95 representatives from 12 universities in 9 regions of Russia in the survey showed the relevance and severity of the identified contradictions with the help of a point assessment. The most significant and clearly manifested by the respondents are the problems of the presence of contradictions in the demanded methods of individualized formation of competencies on the part of universities, employers, and students. The prospects for further research on this topic are outlined in connection with the high practical significance and novelty from the standpoint of the development of the theory of the formation of professional competencies.
