The article deals with the problems associated with the effectiveness of research activities in large industrial corporations. On the one hand, the continuous increase in the scientific and technical level of production is a condition for the profitable functioning of capital. And on the other hand, the expectation of a high return on invested capital inhibits the development of scientific and technological achievements.
