Provocative behavior of drivers of prestigious vehicles regarding to the provision of road traffic safety

Introduction. The article analyses actual incidents of provocative behavior of drivers of prestigious vehicles who grievously violate road traffic rules. The aim of the article is to ascertain the essence of drivers’ provocative behavior threatening the traffic security. Results of the Survey and Discussions. The mode of drivers’ provocative behavior is the manner of assumption of risk driving and intentional violation of Highway Code of the Russian Federation that may cause unintended and even tragic consequences for road users. From the psychological point of view there is the demonstration of prestigious vehicle opportunities and a driver’s personal style of driving as a means and method of provocation under road traffic conditions as well as making videotape of driver’s behavior and later posting it online. Provocative behavior of drivers operating expensive vehicles corresponds to dangerous driving though they are not identical. Provocative driving behavior is often exhibited by representatives of elite youth who feel they act with impunity. The certainty of punishment and public reprimand are required in conjunction with the increased level of legal awareness and driving culture. Further development of issues concerning the influence of psychological features and drivers’ behavior on road traffic safety is also necessary. Conclusions. It is necessary to develop the measures improving the realization of comprehensive and systematic approach to solve the problem of provision of road traffic safety. It is essential to justify the need of the training of future drivers being at different age-related stages of the personality development; the training that is aimed at the inserting proper sections in educational programs and forming psychological and communicative competence of road traffic participants.
