Objective: the investigation of psychophysiological characteristics and their dynamics in women with eating disorders. Research tasks: to conduct a comparative research of morphofunctional and psychosomatic characteristics of patients with eating disorders, taking into consideration the duration and the intensity of protein-calorie deficiency; to reveal the typical features of mental performance, main mental processes and EEG data at different stages of mental disorders; to elaborate the rigorous scientific methods of correction of pathological changes that appear as a result of prolonged protein-calorie deficiency during eating disorders. Methods: clinical- psychopathological, follow-up, high-yield liquid chromatography, electroencephalography, psychological, statistical. Results. Long-term effects of prolonged starvation were investigated by the example of 460 women with eating disorders (ED) who had recourse the PFU department of psychiatry and medical psychology and were examined between 1987 and 2013. Ill effects of prolonged protein-calorie deficiency, especially in adolescents were displayed. The most frequent somatic effects of ED were revealed. In addition to clinical method and anthropometry, to measure the efficiency of weight gain after prolonged alimentary deficiencies and to treat anorexia nervosa patients the pathopsychological method of «Shabalina's complex decoding» and analysis of urinary catecholamines at different stages of therapy were also used. Improvement of mental performance and general wellness were obtained on application of developed treatment mode. The rigorous scientific concept that allows avoiding complications during treatment of long-term fasting was proposed.
